Mr. Hutton provides leadership with respect to department-wide multimodal policy integration, including on issues related to technology innovation and in developing strategies that advance TC’s strategic objectives for Canada’s transportation system.  With respect to Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), he oversees TC’s ITS policy research, analysis and advice, serving as the policy lead for key initiatives including:

• The Automated and Connected Vehicles Policy Framework for Canada;
• TC’s participation on technology and mobility-related expert working groups established as part of the Group of Seven (G7) Transport Ministers’ Meetings and the International Transport Forum (ITF);
• fostering technology adoption in transportation supply chains; and,
• TC’s international cooperation agreements on ITS with China’s Ministry of Transport and with India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the National Highways Authority of India.
